Senior Vice President, Sports Programming
Jasdeep Pannu spent 16 years in creative and management positions with leading global broadcast television companies in South Asia. His most recent role at Star Sports is endeavoring to redefine sports broadcasting in India. He has been a technology journalist for BBC World, a producer and director for sports and entertainment initiatives at ESPN, the programming strategy and acquisitions head for Discovery and BBC Global Channels, and head of presentation on the IPL (the world’s largest cricket league, watched by over 200 million viewers each year), for Sony Entertainment Network. After the IBEAR program, Jasdeep intends to apply his wide-ranging understanding of the media industry to lead or build businesses that utilize multiple platforms to engage consumers with new paradigms of content. His larger goal is to explore opportunities that present themselves in growing economies around the world, changing lives through thought leadership and innovation. A literature graduate with a master’s degree in film and television from the Mass Communication Research Center in New Delhi, he is passionately curious and keenly interested in technology and culture as well as history.
