George Tyan-Wen Chen is Founder, Chairman and CEO of The Capital Group. The Capital Group is one of the leading financial institutions in the Greater China. Since the foundation of Capital Securities Corporation in 1988, this group has been highly regarded as an innovative and a professional in the field of financial services. As an indication of the noteworthy achievements of The Capital Group, this corporation has over the years repeatedly received prestigious awards from the world-renowned professional financial magazines FinanceAsia, Euromoney, Asiamoney and The Asset in acknowledgement of its standing as one of the best financial institutions in the Asia-Pacific region.

Mr. Chen has more than 25 years experience in the financial field, working as Commercial Banker in The Chase Manhattan Bank N. A., and as Investment Banker and Chief Officer of Merrill Lynch Capital Markets Ltd. before establishing the Capital Group.

In recognition of his achievements, Mr. Chen has received a number of prizes, including the Award for the Most Exemplary Social Service, the Bailemen Elite Prize – Financial Industry, the Award for the Most Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year and Top Ten Securities and Futures Professional in Taiwan. Mr. Chen has not only made a significant contribution on the financial services industry, but also participated in a number of academic organizations.

In addition, he is the President of University of Southern California (USC) Taiwan Alumni Club, and Advisor and Ambassador for USC.

Mr. Chen graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with a Bachelor degree in Finance. He later completed an MBA – International Business Education and Research (IBEAR) Program at USC. Mr. Chen is a frequent speaker at international conferences and has published a book outlining his own personal life philosophy and business creed, entitled “Challenging the Challenges: In Pursuit of Excellence, Confronting the Future”.
